BMX Rider Shuts Down 405 Freeway

23 Apr

This is one for the books. An 18 Year old on a BMX bike gets police escort off the 405 Freeway. You know how it goes, they shut down all lanes of the Freeway to get this kid safely to the nearest offramp. His buddies probably bet him $100 or a new bike or something if he’d actually ride his bike on the freestyle. Ultimately, a stupid move by the BMX rider but a pretty classic situation. I bet all those cars he held up are pissed. Kids, don’t try this…ever!

Special Flip from Special Greg

1 Apr

Holy smokes folks! Let the progression continue. Travis Pastrana’s cousin Special Greg just pulled a first ever trick on the megaramp, which is called none other than the Special Flip. Man oh man, it takes some serious cajones to go off and do something like this.

Freestyle Flatland BMX

24 Mar

Lachlan Cameron shot us over an e-mail with a link to one of his Flatland BMX videos. Needless to say, we liked it. Dude’s getting freaky on 2 wheels, especially the last part in the parking garage. Those are some crazy boomerang variations for sure.

The Dirt Pipe

22 Feb

Got some time to kill? Just cruise over to www.redbull.com and get lost in their world of crazy videos. Just click on the link “Holy Shit” and you’ll be mesmerized. Some of these folks are superhuman or perhaps just plain crazy or maybe they are just jacked on Red Bull. Anyways, this video was one of our favorites just because the course is so genius. A Dirt half pipe for BMX? Who would have thought of that? I bet the snow pipe builders just got some good ideas from this one. We’ll probably be seeing this kind of set up in snow parks next year. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

The Kurt Yaeger Story

Kurt Yaeger Amputee BMX Rider

Kurt Yaeger - Never let a bum wheel get you down.

As we mentioned in a previous post about Kurt Yaeger, he’s not too interested in excuses. He doesn’t use his injury as an excuse for why he can’t ride a bike or act or do anything a 2 legged person can do, instead he uses his injury as fuel to inspire and empower him to do the unexpected, to thrive beyond all expectations. Clearly his success and will to overcome adversity has turned some heads, and as a result here’s a well deserved interview/bio posted on ESPN.go.com. Read closely, there’s some mention of Kurt hoping to be the first amputee rider to hit the MegaRamp at next summer’s X Games. Impossible is not in Kurt’s vocabulary, so you can pretty much expect to see him waiting on deck to hit the 70 footer.

This is Amputee BMX’r Kurt Yaeger giving us all a little inspiration.

Keith Schmidt BMX Edit

Keith Schmidt - Superman

Keith Schmidt just sent us over a link to his latest edit and we are really stoked with it. While he may not have been one of the big names you just witnessed at the 2010 X-Games, it’s clear that Keith is on the up and up. He’ll be there soon as long as his riding keeps progressing like it has. Here’s Keith shredding Camp Woodward. Good on ya Keith!
