Day 2 of Surf Expo set up is in the books. Setting up for a tradeshow makes for a long day but it’s rewarding when you roll in on opening day the everything is looking tight. We’ll be sure to post some shots tomorrow of the finished booth but for now here’s some images of how we got through the day. Time to get off the feet and get some chow.

Freestyle Surf Expo Booth #1147

We'll be dropping the Tide 4.0 at Surf Expo!

Surf Expo is right around the corner. It’s hard to believe the week after New Years the whole surf industry will be making its way to the good ole’ dirty south to whoop it up at Surf Expo in Orlando Florida from January 6-8th. Usually Florida brings to mind humid sunny beach type weather, but lately it’s been freezing with lows in the 30’s. Hopefully things warm up by the time we roll into town. Anyways, nothings stopping us from making the trek as we’ve got a bunch of new stuff, like the Tide 4.0, to release at the show and we are looking forward to it. In fact, right now we are in the middle of preparing for the show which is pretty chaotic especially with the Holiday’s and all. It would be nice to just snap our fingers and have everything organized, but that’s just not the case. Somebody has to organize the 4 workstations with 100+ watches each plus displays and everything else. It’s like putting together a puzzle for the first time, but rest assured there is a method to our madness. Come check the new line at Surf Expo Booth # 1147.

The 12 Watches of Christmas

Freestyle's 12 Watches of Christmas Sweepstakes

Like a partridge in a pear tree

The Holiday Spirit is flourishing in the Freestyle office and we just can’t help but be in a giving mood this time of year. We’ve decided to offer up The 12 Watches of Christmas, which simply means we are gifting one watch a day for 12 days to a lucky fan. The sweepstakes will run from Dec. 6th through Dec. 17th, and the winners will be announced on Dec. 20th. That gives us just enough time to ship the winners in time for Christmas! The only catch is that you need to Like us on Facebook which probably isn’t a stretch if you’re reading this. Ho Ho Ho and good luck to you! Happy Holidays from all of us at Freestyle!

Big Boi was all about the Killer Sharks

While the on stage action at the KROQ Epicenter Twenty Ten was absolutley scorching, the backstage artist lounge was cool as could be. Who am i kidding? It was 100 degrees in the shade, but what was cool was getting to meet a bunch of the bands. Here’s a collection of images of bands and artists that were hyping Freestyle including Big Boi, The Knux, The Envy, Rise Against, Suicidal Tendencies and even Eminem’s Guitar Player! The new Killer Sharks and Karltons were a big hit!

KROQ Epicenter Twenty Ten – Eminem

26 Sep

Day one is in the books and it was a whopper. It was hotter than hot out in Fontana, but nothing was hotter than Eminem’s set once the sun went down. The guy ruled it, playing some new stuff alongside all his biggest hits. Definitely the highlight of the day. We are heading out for KROQ Epicenter Twenty Ten day 2 now, preparing to sweat in the shade. Ya, it’s worth it. Here’s a low budget snippet of Eminem performing Not Afraid cut short by running out of memory.

KROQ Epicenter Twenty Ten Sound Check

25 Sep

Yesterday while setting up our backstage artist lounge area, we were more than pleasantly surprised. Right when we showed up, the early 90’s band Bush was sound checking. Now the band Bush brings back memories off 1992, but hearing them sound check was totally 2010. Hearing Gavin Rossdale rip his guitar and vocals across the empty festival was way cool. Unfortunately, we have no Gwen Stefani siting to report.

2010 Catalina Classic Paddleboard Race

The start of the 2010 Catalina Classic Paddleboard Race

What lies beneath?

The 2010 Catalina Classic Paddleboard Race went down last weekend under relatively calm seas and favorable weather. It was the 35th running of the race, and with all the recent shark sitings, one would think this year was maybe a bit more exciting than years past. Of course, over the 32 mile ocean trek we didn’t hear any commotion about shark sitings, just a couple sun fish and a grey whale. Nick Meistrell captured some great pics, scroll through (more…)
