Never been on a wakeboard? Here’s an opportunity to learn from Southern California’s best wakeboarders. We are a proud supporter of the West Side Riders Canyon Lake Ride Day presented by Mahfia.com and the Canyon Lake Wakeboard Club happening on Canyon Lake this Sunday, April 3rd. For only $10 you can enjoy a day on the lake with demos and instruction from West Side Riders Randall Harris, Melissa Marquardt, Eddie Valdez, Jacob Valdez and Justin Fisher. This includes a BBQ and free giveaways from companies like you guessed it, Freestyle Watches, Vans, Monster, Spy, Liquid Force, Sullen, Popchips, vitamin water, and Cobian Sandals.
A couple weeks ago, I think it was Tuesday, March 15th Justin Fisher gave us a call to come out and shoot a sketchy rock spillway with the West Side Riders. Of course, Nick Meistrell dropped all his office responsibilities and bolted out to meet up with the crew consisting of Melissa Marquardt, Eddie and Jacob Valdez, Randall Harris and Fish. Big ups to TransWorld Wakeboarding for hosting the first-ever Ladies Learn to Ride day at the Carlsbad Lagoon on Nov. 2nd. The event gave more than 20 women from the industry a chance to pick up some tips from Freestyle rider Melissa Marquardt. The fun day, which was organized in collaboration with Mahfia.com, Spy and Liquid Force, is one of the first in a series of future ride days that TransWorld and partners plan to hold for women in the action sports industry. It’s always good to give back, and when you can learn from someone like Melissa Marquardt makes it that much better. Check out the photo gallery on Transworld.

10 Years of Alliance Wake!
It’s been out for a couple weeks now so if you haven’t picked up a copy shame on you. Na, we aren’t going to harsh on you too bad, we know not everybody has a boat and lake in their backyard but there’s no harm in dreaming. It’s no secret we are loyal supporters of the wake scene and we’re stoked to be involved in Alliance Wakes 10 Year Anniversary Issue. Loyalty runs both ways, which is why we decided to run Melissa Marquardt in this ever important supersized issue; she has stuck with us through thick and thin and we really appreciate her support. As usual we were fashionably late in getting our act together to put this ad in the hopper. With only a day to spare before Alliance was going to send this thing to print we cruised out to Canyon Lake to capture some time with Melissa Marquardt. As luck would have it, the day was nasty. The kind of day that looked like the sky was going to puke cats and dogs at any moment. Good thing Melissa is a trooper and Nick Meistrell is a master of light manipulation, because despite Melissa nearly freezing to death and Nick almost dropping his camera in the water, we nailed it! It’s pretty gratifying to turn a grey day into something pretty darn cool. Here are a few shots from the day and if you scroll all the way to the bottom you’ll see how the Melissa Marquardt / Killer Shark ad came together.

It’s been a big weeek for the Freestyle Girls Team. First Sage Erickson took home the Women’s Pro Junior Title at the US Open of Surfing, and now this! Melissa Marquardt has landed on top of the biggest wake festival in the world by winning the Pro Women’s division of the 2010 Wakestock in Collingwood Canada. Really not a surprise to us, we may be a bit biased but she has the best style of all the girls. Congrat’s Mel, we are coming out to Canyon Lake to celebrate!
