Welcome to the Official Blog for Freestyle and Shark Watches.
Featuring mind benders, funny sh*t, amazing rides, crazy people, behind the scenes shenanigans and anything and everything that keeps the Freestyle office a buzz. We may not play the same sport or have the same passions, we may not have the same gender, religion or faith, we may not live in the same country, city, or state, but we all spend our days breathing, bleeding and sweating the same way. At the end of the day it's all about performance and together we are Freestyle, we are performance timing, and this is our blog.
Congrats to Freestyle rider Mikey Ciaramella for scoring a window advertisement for Reef at 7th Street Surf Shop in his hometown of New Jersey. Mikey has had a big year from surfing his first backdoor pipe to winning 3 divisions of the Northeast NSSA Season (open mens, open junior, and explorer junior), he just keeps charging and getting better and better. Plus he always has his watch on and his stickers in prime placement. Aspiring groms take note; let your surfing do the talking!
Who’d ever thought riding a board that is really more like a traditional kneeboard would be the next big thing? We all know Slater started the trend and has since inspired some other guys like Shane to give it a go and here’s proof that they work insane. Well at least for guys like Shane and Kelly. What about you, have you tried ripping on one of these tiny boards?
The gang over at FreesurfTV put together a solid interview of Freestyle rider Shane Dorian. From WCT Competitive standout to free surf wave warrior Shane-O has taken his surfing talent to places most will only dream. Here’s a look into his perspective on living the dream. If you happen to be a grom or know a grom who looks up to Shane, check out his latest Signature Freestyle watch made to fit a little wrist, The Grominator.
As we’ve said in previous posts, to get really good at something you usually have to take some beatings along the way. Here is Freestyle rider and 2007 Down Hill World Champ Sam Hill proving if you want to stay at the top you’re still have take some beatings. Fortunately Sam still managed to ride away from this crash and finish the race. And yes, his still hunt for the 2009 World Championship!
Our good friend Alek Parker has kept the adventure going in 2009. You may remember a previous post about all the places he went with his Rasta Shark in 2008? Check out this cool video from his travel’s to Tasmania featured on ESPN online. This is a cool look behind the scenes of a surf trip, where even if you don’t always score the perfect surf you are hoping for, the adventure itself is priceless.
